Christmas Memories, and WWE 2K22

It comes as no surprise that I'm pretty excited about WWE 2K22's ultimate release, next year. Back in 2019 when WWE 2K20 was released, proudtreecko and I were the first two people to buy the game at the early release. I pre-ordered the Deluxe Edition for Xbox One, and plan to do the same for 2K22 if that option is available.

In 2007, WWE: SmackDown vs Raw 2008 was released for PS2, PS3, Xbox 360, PSP, Nintendo DS, and even the Nintendo Wii. This was a big deal. In fact, it was the first time the "SmackDown vs Raw" series appeared on a Nintendo console.

"Christmas 2006"

Starting in the summer of 2007, I would go on the computer in my living room and read updates about SmackDown vs Raw 2008. It had become ritualistic. To this day, SmackDown vs Raw 2008 remains my favourite WWE video game.

I figured my parents would be paying attention to this. Of course, they didn't. So, it was getting close to Christmas and my parents had no plan to get me the game. You see, when I was a kid I had a reputation for "rage quitting" when it comes to video games. Therefore, my parents wanted to avoid buying them for me at times- which is fair.

My uncle sent me money in a Christmas card, so this was my chance. I had a few Christmas cards with money in it, and I was able to put it all together to get the new WWE video game. My mom worked as Human Resources at a Canadian department store called Zellars.

Unfortunately, Zellars closed its doors in 2012. At this point it's probably about December 22, and we were on our way to where my mom worked. Thankfully, there were several copies of SmackDown vs Raw 2008 available for PlayStation 2.

With that in mind, I was also able to take advantage of my mom's discount. I played the game as soon as I got home, and you know what? I remember the first match I played. I played as CM Punk, and beat Johnny Nitro for the ECW Championship.
