(c) WWE 2K22/ 2K Games. At the time of writing this article, WWE 2K22 was officially announced a little more than a week ago.
Finally, we have an official video game to talk about. Myself, I can't wait. Not surprisingly, a lot of fans are feeling the same way.
The following article will be my fourth post about the upcoming #WWE2K22, and I'm pretty excited for this video game. The first time I played a professional wrestling video game was around 2005, and I've loved them ever since.
I must confess, this is my first new blog post in about a week because I had to finish exams for university. However, #themodernistson is back on a full-time schedule!

Since the creation of modern wrestling video games (think WWE '13 onward), WWE 2K has sometimes offered a pre-order bonus with each year's game. Of course, 2020 lacked a major WWE video game- with the exception of #WWE2KBattleGrounds. However, that game offered Edge as a pre-order bonus. I own the game for Nintendo Switch, and have played it a few times.

In terms of WWE 2K22, who should be the pre-order bonus?
Well, let's think about this:
It's highly unlikely CM Punk will return to in-ring action, especially with WWE. However, Punk is a fan of video games so it's possible he could appear in wrestling video games going forward.
With that in mind, it would be quite interesting to see him appear as a pre-order bonus in WWE 2K22.
Also, CM Punk is one of the longest-reigning world champions in WWE's modern era- holding the WWE Championship for 434 days between 2011 and 2013.

What's in store for each brand? Today, let's talk about #WWESmackdown:
At the time of writing this article, Roman Reigns has held the Universal Championship for 227 days. Interestingly, this has been his longest title reign throughout his WWE career. With that in mind, his second-longest was his tag team title reign with Seth Rollins which lasted 148 days, back in 2013.
Do I think Reigns should lose his title anytime soon, in real life? Not really.
The "Tribal Chief" persona is nothing less than brilliant. However, I would certainly book #Cesaro to win the Universal Championship in WWE 2K22. In fact, I've already done it in WWE 2K20.

NXT North American Championship:
Wait, isn't this title on the NXT brand? Yes, since 2018.
However, I believe the North American Championship could really benefit from being on Smackdown as part of the "main roster".
In terms of WWE's "mid-card" titles, the North American Championship is one of three. In 1979 the WWE Intercontinental Championship was established for the company, and has often been considered a "stepping-stone" to the WWE Championship.
If WWE were to put the North American Championship on Smackdown, this would further add to its legitimacy and credibility. Nevertheless, the North American title would be viewed as just as important as the Intercontinental title, and the United States title.
Funny enough, I had a dream a few nights ago the United States Championship was moved to NXT. Something similar happened in 2008, when the United States title was on the ECW brand.
So, who's the champion going to be?

Smackdown Tag Team Titles:

You know what I find surprising? The Uso's second reign as Smackdown Tag Team Champions (182 days) is still the longest reign for those titles, which have existed since 2016.
In WWE 2K19, I had them hold the titles for 278 days. However, I find it fascinating that no other team has held these titles for more than 182 days.
With that in mind, perhaps Jimmy and Jey should break their own record?
Smackdown Women's Championship:
There's no reason I would take the belt off Bianca Belair in WWE 2K22. However, I would ultimately have her lose the championship to Io Shirai.
Belair won the 2021 women's Royal Rumble, and then went on to win the Smackdown women's title at #Wrestlemania. Well deserved, and I think she should hold the title for at least six months.
