Welcome home to Pandora

For the first time since 2009, fans will return to the world of Pandora. Although James Cameron had planned the film since the 1990s, it wasn't until 2009 we got to see the exotic world of Pandora for ourselves.

Back in 2009 there was a video game released to accompany the film, but it was critically panned. I have never played the 2009 "Avatar" video game, but I do remember watching the film when I was in junior high school. I must confess, I didn't appreciate the movie back then as much as I do now. As a science fiction author myself ("Escaping the Summit"), I understand how much effort and dedication is required for crafting a science fiction world.

Here's what the folks at IGN have to say about "Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora"...

"Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora brings us back to Pandora, the trailer providing glimpses of various beautiful biomes. It will be a first-person open world action-adventure game set in the Western Frontier, a never-before-seen part of Pandora featuring a living and reactive world. It will once again pit the Na'vi against humans and their mechs."

According to the folks at IGN, this game will be a first-person adventure epic. However, there will likely be elements of stealth. Not surprisingly, players will explore an unseen section of Pandora- so there will be specific ways to take down tough enemies. This game looks pretty interesting, and I'd love to get my hands on a copy by 2022. With that in mind, based on its style, I won't be surprised to see RPG elements in this game. For those who follow this blog, they know I'm a sucker for fantasy and role-playing games.
